Haydan's Birthday

{November 12, 2011}

Haydan's birthday fell on a Saturday this year, and by luck her dad had the day off so we were able to spend the day as a family. We started out the morning with a birthday breakfast of Haydan's choosing, lunch at her favorite restaurant - Cici's Pizza - and a special birthday dinner. We also spent the morning doing a project for school.

The birthday girl.

{no pictures of Quinn - she woke up crying and I sent her back to bed, where she miracously went back to sleep and slept till noon!}

The birthday breakfast "cake."

Haydan turned 8 this year and suddenly developed the lung power of a 100 year old. It took this girl five tries to get all the candles blown out - all three times she got to do it!

You can always count on Bailey to bring a little cheese to a party!

At Cici's I got the staff to sing Happy Birthday to Haydan. She was very embarrassed!

The birthday dessert, wearing her birthday pajamas.

Haydan requested the same birthday party theme this year that Quinn had, which made it easy on me: Pancakes and Pajamas. Originally her birthday party had been scheduled for the day of her actual birthday, but not only had four people called to say they couldn't come but Haydan also forgot to give an invitation to one of her friends. I was worried about hurt feelings so we decided to postpone until the following weekend. In the end, I'm still not sure that was a good idea. Instead of only three people being able to come on the original date, only two people came to her party. I think I was sadder than she was! We had several people not be able to make it, one no show, and one last minute cancel due to illness. The girls still seemed to have a good time. But I have to say party games go fast when there are only three participators!

I completely forgot to get a picture of the two party guests. But I did get some of opening presents. Haydan has been asking all year for a new school bag. I said no since I bought her a new one half way through last year. Lucky her - one of her gifts from her friends was a bag big enough for school!

From Mom and Dad: Twinkle Toes! She's been asking me for these for the last year.

All in all the birthday party was a bit of a bust (one guest's dad was in charge of getting the gift which meant she got a ten dollar bill in a gift bag) - though don't tell Haydan I said that! I think next year we'll bag the parties and go to Disney Land :)
